Guest mapping; tracing the full arc of a participant's experience from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave. What is in the bag at registration? What is there to do between talks? How does the stage feel when a speaker walks out? Every touchpoint is a decision someone made. The journey map became the actual brief; not just what LEAP looked like but what it felt like to move through it.

---

###### The identity
# Learn, Explore, Apply and Play
The name is an acronym and a direction at the same time. The identity had to match that energy; bold, colourful, nothing that could be mistaken for a standard HR conference.

At the centre is a bespoke logotype where the A becomes a dynamic mark. Bold colour blocks and layered illustrations build out a visual language that holds together without becoming predictable. In some cases this even led to worry. The concern was not directed at eJobs itself; the platform was trusted. It was about the businesses advertising on it. Whether the company was legitimate, whether the job was real, whether the salary was accurate. This distinction mattered. It reframed the design problem entirely. The goal was not to rebuild trust in eJobs; it was to extend eJobs' existing credibility outward, onto every job listing on the platform.

---

###### The approach
# Working with bias, not against it
Rather than treating user scepticism as a problem to overcome, I started by trying to understand it. Kahneman and Tversky's work on behavioural design offered a useful frame: people do not evaluate trust rationally. They rely on fast, intuitive signals; cognitive shortcuts shaped by experience, loss aversion, and pattern recognition. Fighting these biases is a losing battle. Designing with them is not.

The insight that shaped the solution came from looking at how trust is built across other platforms and industries. Signifiers of trust are everywhere in daily life: star ratings on Trustpilot, verified badges, response times, transparent return policies, safety certifications. These are not just features. They are signals that tell the brain this is safe, this is known, this has been checked by someone other than the person asking you to trust them.

Social proof and transparency emerged as the two most reliable levers. Not because they are new ideas, but because they work with the way people already think.

---

###### The opportunity

# Building confidence into every job post
The solution focused on making eJobs' existing verification process visible. The platform already manually verified companies and job listings; the marketing team performed these checks during the sales stage. Users simply did not know this was happening.

The design response was to surface it. A verification badge on each listing, clearly communicating that the company has been checked against official sources and the job content reviewed for accuracy. Alongside this, a step-by-step breakdown of the verification process; showing users exactly what eJobs checks and why, before a listing goes live.

As a next step, I proposed making the existing reporting form more visible and accessible; a quiet but important signal that eJobs stands behind what appears on its platform and gives users a way to act if something seems wrong. The feature was already operational; the opportunity was simply to communicate it better.

Together these elements do not ask users to trust blindly. They show the work. And that is precisely how behavioural design earns confidence; not by telling people everything is fine, but by giving them enough evidence to decide for themselves.

",[627,628,629],"Interviews","Design critique","User journey
[],[
"1ZXub0XDOGb5lfP1R0257X","2020-11-28T15:33:47.508Z","2026-09-12T14:38:30.451Z
1143,236
[],[
"1FyKA04BPD32a8LYeB99rP","2022-04-09T19:59:14.004Z","2026-05-10T10:21:56.254Z
295,55
"How to build an atomic fluid design system?","how_to_build_an_atomic_fluid_design_system","A design system begins with foundational elements (colour, typography, spacing) and grows into components and interaction patterns. Its purpose is to be a single source of truth for designers and engineers, ensuring consistency, speeding up development, and enabling high-quality iteration.

At eJobs, the system was born out of a digital strategy shift: a full backend and frontend rewrite paired with a redesigned user experience. The goal was a fluid system — one that adapts across platforms, screen sizes, and accessibility needs, minimising the differences between Android, iOS, and responsive web without compromising on quality.

---

###### The challenge
# Where consistency meets complexity
Design systems must adapt to constraints, from technology to user needs. Supporting Android, iOS, and a responsive web app simultaneously meant defining clear breakpoints, simplifying platform quirks, and optimising performance for smooth experiences across devices.

With 500k monthly active users spanning all ages and digital literacy levels, accessibility and usability were priorities from day one. The system needed to stay true to the brand while integrating custom illustrations and subtle UI touches that reinforced eJobs' visual identity.

---

###### How
# Simplifying design with the atomic principle
Following the atomic principle, we first defined the fundamentals: grid, colour palette, buttons, input fields, typeface, hierarchy, line widths, and illustrations. From there, we built out components like navigation, states (such as zero and loading), and patterns for layout and animation.

By breaking everything into smaller, manageable parts, we created a modular system that is easy to scale, adapt, and customise. Designer tokens were then handed to the front-end team, who translated them into their own component library; ensuring the visual language carried through consistently into the live product.

##### Build & refine
# Validating by designing critical flows
A design system only proves its value when it meets real product problems. Rather than testing the system in isolation, we validated it by designing critical user flows with the new styling applied; the most demanding surfaces, where hierarchy, accessibility, and interaction patterns all needed to work together under pressure.

This approach meant refinements were grounded in real context, not just hypothetical edge cases. Each flow revealed where the system held and where it needed adjustment, feeding directly back into the component library.

----

# How we improved our design library
The system was tested through new flows with guerrilla-style sessions at job fairs, gathering direct feedback from real users. Four lessons shaped how the library evolved:
Contrast matters.

__Accessibility is not optional;__ every state was tested and refined to meet standards, ensuring the platform works for users across all levels of visual ability.

__Redundancy helps.__ Giving users two ways to perform the same action (a cancel button and a close button, for example) reduces friction and cognitive load, especially for infrequent users.

__Clarity is key.__ eJobs users do not visit every day. Clear labels on every element mean that someone returning after weeks away can orient themselves immediately without relearning the interface.

__Choice empowers users.__ Dark mode was introduced not as a trend but as an accessibility and comfort option; a recognition that different users have different needs at different times.
",1791308692125]
